Immunity Booster!

Here it is … the FLU season is here. But guess what! So is the allergy season and the winter slumber season.

Yes no joke. With the seasonal changes the needs of our body changes. It changes in timings for sleep requirements, rest, hydration and most importantly destressing.

What does that mean? Well if you are trying to ensure you don’t catch the FLU this FLU season here are some great tips that you may already know, Handwashing, Cover your face when you cough, Do not touch your face until you wash your hand, Annual FLU Vaccination etc. But did you know that your day to day stress could also contribute to you catching the bug?

Some simple steps to incorporate in your life to reduce that stress response inside your body.

Over the decades in North American lifestyle the stress feels normal. But it does reduce your immunity and makes it easier for the bugs to infect you.

What can you do to prevent it? Well step one don’t stress your body. No late night staying awake scrolling the internet or drinking lots of tea, coffee, alcohol prior to bedtime. Avoid missing meals and prioritize your body’s calling. You don’t need to eat a late lunch to meet the deadline. Work will always be there. Don’t ignore your body.

Step two, reduce mental stress load. Keep the work at workplace and don’t continue working or thinking even after work hours. Stop interactions with individuals with toxic traits. Reduce logistical stress in your life as best as you can.

Step three, drinking plain water rather than tea, coffee, pop, juice, artificial drinks, alcohol helps your body stay well hydrated at all times. It helps toxins to get flushed out of your body.

Step four supplementing Vitamin D( we are all very low typically in north america), Vitamin C(steady daily dose rather than a sudden high dose is recommended) may be needed. Taking turmeric in your cooked food ( only a pinch cooked and not in a pill), Oregano oil(may help when just feeling like coming down with something), electrolytes(always help to reduce the length of the sickness), bee propolis/honey( helps with the irritated throat and dry cough) may help.

Lastly it is a myth that taking vaccination is not going to help you because you will still get sick anyways. You may get a immune response while your body makes those antibodies that feels like the FLU itself but trust me it is far less intense than the FLU itself. The vaccine makes the immune arsenal and gets ready for when the actual virus comes along your body is ready to kick it out!
